“I am SO EXCITED to be back in my Typhoon” – Heather Klepinger
Heather and her husband, Scott Klepinger, are both racing at Midwest Drags this year. She is racing her 1992 GMC Typhoon and he will be in his Camaro. Their son Chris will be co-pilot for both, bouncing between cars. They’ll start the trip 250 miles from their home in Elkhart, IN, where they own and operate the Modern Muscle Car Factory.
In her words, here is the story and build of the Typhoon, “We purchased it 2006 and it was black. Very rough paint with spider cracks all over… We stripped it down and painted it Sunset orange metallic (‘08 Avalanche). We currently have the stock 4.3L engine in it with 4 bolt splayed main caps, JE pistons, Eagle rods and a stock [intake] manifold that has been modified to be forward facing with a 92 mm throttle body… It has a Holley dominator EFI system, 80lb/hr injectors, Rossler 4L60E trans, 70mm GTQ turbo out of a GN, Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers, a Strange 12 bolt rear end, 35 spline axles with spool, custom Ridetech triangulated 4 link suspension, Viking coil overs in the front and rear with front and rear disc Wildwood brakes. I’ve only made 4 passes with the new build. Fastest pass is 11.75 at 115mph.”
“The only struggle in the past has been destroying transmissions (all done by Scott who is now banned from driving it) 😂. I am looking forward to time with my family and friends, and hearing the sweet sounds of boost down the track…and the smell of race fuel in the air….” We feel the same way Heather!!
“Shout out to my amazing husband Scott and his best friend Chris Jacobsen for many long hard hours getting her ready for me!”- Heather Klepinger
Midwest Drags will start Heather’s Drag and Drive driver career, she has co-piloted with Scott in the past! We’ll make sure to follow up with Heather often during the event!!
